Senior Music Manager - nhow Berlin 


„Life isn´t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself“. I always liked that quote and looking back this is exactly what I did at nhow Berlin… 

I remember standing in the Music lounge of the 8th floor of a halfway finished „super Hotel“ that was being build in my home town Berlin. The wind blew through the concrete structure and you could only see glimpses of how the finished product might look like. 

It was big, different and about music. Perfect. 

What many people didn’t know is that I started my journey as a student at nhow Berlin. Since I can remember music was in my heart but since I wasn’t a rockstar yet I had to learn something „real“ like my parents said. My former boss was chosen to build the 2 recording studios on the 8th floor of the nhow Berlin and after a long time of convincing him he found a way to get me into nhow Berlin. (Thank you Alex Dürr forever.) So I started a dual course of study with the nhow Berlin as my business partner. For the next 3 years it was 3 months in the hotel and 3 months in the university - that was the plan. Which I never kept. I actually came to the hotel every day. 

From the beginning I felt so inspired to fill this place with music. I had no idea how to do that but I had the strong urge to leave my footprint in this special hotel and to use this opportunity of a new concept that still can be altered. 

I didn’t have any background in hotel business but I had a big network of musicians. So I invited them, started open mic nights and threw myself in any new event proposal that was given to me. „Its about music? Than its mine!“ Everything was new and exciting so any extra hour didn’t count and since everything worked out well I gained more and more the trust from my colleagues and upper Managers. And as time went by the events became larger, the names became bigger and my responsibilities grew steadily. I worked with 6 General Managers in total and learned so much from everyone. And I even found a stage for my inner rockstar: the „nhow Music Night“, a concert night in our lobby where I play the opening gig every month! 

And the goal to bring as much music into this house is still going on. From a variety of musical roomservices, partnerships with international brands like Gibson and Universal, from the biggest German stars like CRO, Nina Chuba and Lena Meyer Landruth recording in the nhow studios to the very own "nhow Band" consisting only of employees of the nhow Berlin - the „nhow Originals“ - everything is and will always be about music.

So in the end I can truly say that from Student to Stage Manager, to Artist Relations Manger, to Music Manager to now Senior Music Manager - I created myself.
